The Florida Department of Health in Martin County sends special thanks this week to all the Medical Reserve Corps volunteers who support Public Health and Emergency Preparedness initiatives in our community.

Recently, Jensen Beach resident Mike Flanagan was honored for his service.

“Mike has gone above and beyond in the last couple of years.” said Lisa Poziomek, Emergency Preparedness Coordinator for the Florida Department of Health in Martin County. “He is kind, compassionate and has a great sense of humor. He has helped out with so many projects including mosquito prevention outreach, teaching C.P.R. classes and most recently at our Special Needs Shelter during Hurricane Irma.”

Flanagan, a retired paramedic who served more than 350 hours in 2017, says he enjoys the adventures that sharing his time and talents bring. “I have volunteered my whole life. I believe it’s something that we all should do. It’s the right way to support the community.” said Flanagan.

The Medical Reserve Corps is a national network of volunteers dedicated to improving the health and safety of communities.
