April is STD Awareness Month

Martin County, FL – In recognition of STD Awareness Month, the Florida Department of Health in Martin County is hosting a series of free testing events for STDs (sexually transmitted diseases) and HIV.

Free testing, education and counseling is available at the Health Department on Monday, April 11 and Wednesday, April 27, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, 3441 SE Willoughby Blvd., Stuart and on Thursday, April 14, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, 16401 SW Farm Rd., Indiantown.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 20 million new STD infections occur each year in the United States. Untreated STDs can lead to long term health problems as well as reproductive complications such as infertility.
