National HIV Testing Day

National HIV Testing Day: Free testing & counseling available 

(Martin County, FL) In observance of National HIV Testing Day, the Florida Department of Health in Martin County will offer free HIV counseling and rapid testing. Results will be available in 15 minutes.

Screenings will be offered at the Health Department in Stuart, 3441 SE Willoughby Blvd., Monday, June 30, 9:30 am – 1:00 pm,

"This is an excellent opportunity for people to be pro-active by finding out their status." said Dr. Karen Thomas, Epidemiologist for the Florida Department of Health in Martin County. "When people know their status and learn more about HIV, they can take protective measures to stop transmission of the virus and receive early and effective medical care".

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that more than a million people in the United States are living with HIV infection with almost 16% unaware of their infection.
