(Martin County, FL) – In recognition of National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, the Florida Department of Health in Martin County is offering free rapid HIV testing during the month of February. No appointment is needed and results are available in 15 minutes. All residents, 18 years or older can participate in the testing.

Testing will be available on Tuesday, February 17 at the Florida Department of Health at 16401 SW Farm Road in Indiantown, Friday, February 20 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at Taylor Grocery on SE 10th Street in Stuart and daily, through the month of February, at the Florida Department of Health on Willoughby Boulevard in Stuart.

National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day was established to raise awareness of the virus in the African American community, a racial group most affected by HIV in the United States. Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) show that Blacks make up only 12% of the U.S. population, but have had nearly half of the all new infections of the United States.
