Department of Health in Martin County Celebrates Minority Health Month

By Renay Rouse

April 20, 2022

The Florida Department of Health in Martin County (DOH-Martin) is celebrating Minority Health Month with a free community event, Saturday, April 23 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm at the Cassidy Center in the Golden Gate area of Stuart.

The public is invited to come out to the Cassidy Center for a free event featuring dance demonstrations, healthy lifestyle resources, giveaways and more. DOH-Martin is partnering with staff from the University of Florida Family Nutrition Program who will provide healthy drink “taste tests”.

National Minority Health Month seeks to increase discussion and action to address health disparities that continue to affect racial and ethnic minorities.

Working in partnership with the Health Council of Southeast Florida, DOH-Martin recently launched a task force whose goal is to work with the community to address disparities and improve the health of all groups within our community.
