The Martin County Health Department is conducting a Mercury Biomonitoring Project with a grant to measure mercury levels in women of child-bearing age in our county.

Mercury found in our oceans and rivers is absorbed by fish and then passed on to people who eat fish. High levels of mercury can cause health problems, especially among pregnant women, their unborn babies, and women planning to become pregnant.
